Commentator Points to Meghan Markle’s Biggest As Ever Misstep

Meghan Markle has come under fresh scrutiny as a commentator questioned what may be the biggest mistake behind the launch and growth of her lifestyle brand, As Ever.

Writing for the Daily Express, commentator Alicia Liberty examined the Sussexes' public standing and business ventures, arguing that the brand's appeal has relied more on Meghan's personal profile than on its products.

Liberty acknowledged that the venture has attracted interest, saying there is clearly an audience for the brand. However, she argued that Meghan should not yet be compared to Martha Stewart, pointing to the reportedly disappointing reception of Meghan's Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.

According to Liberty, the original attraction of As Ever was rooted in public curiosity about Meghan herself, particularly her life in California following her departure from royal duties.

She suggested that without the connection to royal life, the brand could struggle to maintain a unique identity, risking the perception of being more of a personal project than a major lifestyle enterprise.

Liberty also argued that one of the Sussexes' greatest errors may have been assuming that public sympathy would continue indefinitely. In her view, changing public attitudes have created additional challenges for both Meghan Markle and Harry as they seek to build their post-royal careers and business ventures.
