Insiders claim the Duke of Sussex struggled with feelings of homesickness while watching relatives gather for the special occasion.
The Duke of Sussex reportedly experienced mixed emotions over the weekend as members of the royal family came together to celebrate the wedding of Peter Phillips, while he remained in California.
According to a source who spoke to New Idea, Harry found it difficult to see close relatives enjoying a family milestone without him and his children.
“Harry put on a brave face at home over the weekend, but seeing his closest family all together, happy and getting on with their lives without him is still very painful,” the insider claimed.
The source added that Harry remains eager for his children to maintain ties with the United Kingdom, particularly as his daughter approaches another milestone birthday.
“Harry desperately wants his children to have some connection to his home country,” the source said.
However, the insider suggested that travel remains a sensitive issue for Meghan Markle, whose previous visits to Britain attracted significant public attention.
As a result, the source alleged that Harry is currently left watching major family gatherings from afar.
The wedding reportedly heightened feelings of nostalgia for the Duke of Sussex, who was once said to be particularly close to his cousin.
“Harry has never felt more homesick than he did seeing all of Peter’s wedding photos,” the insider claimed. “Everyone looked so happy on the big day and it particularly stings because Harry was once so close to his cousin.”
The source also suggested that Harry was saddened that his children were unable to take part in another important family event.
According to the insider, had relations remained stronger and Harry still been living in Britain, there may have been an opportunity for the children to play a role in the wedding celebrations.
The claims come amid ongoing speculation surrounding the royal family rift, which has continued for several years despite reports of occasional efforts to rebuild relationships.
Recent reports have also suggested that a future visit involving the Sussex children could be possible if arrangements can be agreed upon with their grandfather, King Charles III. However, no official plans have been confirmed.
