Princess of Wales focuses on key royal initiative as Meghan faces backlash over reported gift to social media influencer.
Catherine, Princess of Wales, carried out an important engagement at Windsor Castle this week as Meghan Markle faced criticism over a reported gift sent to a social media influencer known for defending the Duchess online.
According to the Court Circular, Catherine, in her role as Joint Patron of the Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, held an Early Years meeting at Windsor Castle on June 2. The engagement came shortly after she joined King Charles III and Queen Camilla for a public appearance.
Meanwhile, Meghan has attracted criticism following reports that she sent a selection of products from her As Ever brand to online influencer John Tyron, who is known online as "The Notorious JTB."
The influencer shared a video on social media showing the gift package and expressed surprise at receiving it. In the post, he thanked Meghan and described himself as "stunned" by the gesture.
The reported gift sparked debate online, with some social media users questioning Meghan's decision because of the influencer's history of posting critical comments about members of the Royal Family, including Catherine and Prince William.
Several users voiced their opinions on X, with some arguing that sending the gift could be viewed as support for an individual who has publicly criticized senior royals. Others defended Meghan, noting that there is no public indication she personally endorsed every statement made by the influencer.
Neither Meghan nor her representatives have publicly commented on the criticism surrounding the reported gift.
At the same time, Catherine continued to focus on her Early Years initiative, one of the key areas of work she has championed in recent years through the Royal Foundation.
