King Charles Visits The King’s Trust at Royal Ascot as Charity Funding Faces Setback

King Charles III and Queen Camilla paid a visit to The King’s Trust stand on the second day of Royal Ascot, celebrating the charity’s 50th anniversary and its continued support for young people across the UK.

In a social media post, the organization said it was “honoured to welcome Their Majesties The King and Queen” to its stand, where it is marking five decades of helping young people unlock their potential.

The charity highlighted the impact of its work at this year’s Royal Ascot, noting that more than 20 young people supported by The King’s Trust are working at the event in roles ranging from broadcasting and live performances to security, catering, and entrepreneurship.

The royal visit comes as British charities face a funding blow following the end of a major Royal Ascot fundraising initiative. According to Reuters, bookmakers have withdrawn support for a charity partnership linked to Thursday’s Britannia Stakes, citing higher taxes and increased regulatory pressures on the gambling industry.

Since its launch in 2021, the initiative had raised more than £3.6 million for charities, including Prostate Cancer UK and Missing People. Last year alone, the Britannia Stakes generated around £450,000 in charitable donations.

Meanwhile, King Charles continues to balance public duties with his ongoing cancer treatment. The monarch, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2024 after undergoing a procedure for an enlarged prostate, revealed in December 2025 that doctors expected to reduce his treatment during 2026. He described the development as a “blessing” and credited advances in modern medicine.

Buckingham Palace has not disclosed the specific type of cancer and has maintained a policy of providing only limited updates on the King’s medical condition.
