Spokesman rejects claims of a snub during NBA Finals appearance in San Antonio
Prince Harry’s team has pushed back on claims circulating online suggesting filmmaker Spike Lee snubbed him during a recent NBA Finals game in San Antonio.
The moment, which took place during the New York Knicks’ clash with the San Antonio Spurs, was widely shared on social media after viewers interpreted the exchange as awkward or dismissive.
In the footage, Harry is seen greeting people in the row ahead before turning toward Lee and extending his hand. Lee initially gestures while speaking, before eventually shaking the Duke of Sussex’s hand briefly.
The clip quickly sparked speculation among some online users, with theories ranging from miscommunication to references to past trivia involving the Duke’s use of a pseudonym on social media years ago.
A spokesman for Harry dismissed the claims as exaggerated, describing the narrative of a snub as inaccurate and out of proportion.
Lee has previously acknowledged being aware of the old anecdote about Harry’s former online alias, a story that was once mentioned in connection with a conversation involving Prince William at a Bafta event. However, there is no indication that it played any role in the recent interaction.
The brief courtside exchange has since been widely discussed online, though most accounts describe it as a casual, unscripted moment rather than a deliberate slight.
