A royal biographer claimed Princess Diana once made a disturbing phone call to Camilla during the breakdown of her marriage to King Charles.
Princess Diana’s troubled relationship with Camilla has returned to the spotlight following claims made by royal biographer Penny Junor.
According to Radar Online, Junor wrote in her book The Duchess: The Untold Story that Diana allegedly called Camilla late at night and warned her that someone had been sent to harm her.
Junor claimed the caller did not identify herself but told Camilla to look outside because a supposed attacker was waiting in the garden.
The account has not been independently verified and remains an allegation attributed to the royal biographer.
Diana’s former private secretary, Patrick Jephson, also wrote about the princess’s emotional state during the collapse of her marriage to Charles.
In his memoir Shadows of a Princess, Jephson described Diana as deeply affected by the breakdown of the relationship and by what she viewed as rejection from the royal household.
He suggested that some of her actions were linked to a lasting sense of isolation and emotional hurt following the separation.
Diana and Charles finalized their divorce in 1996 after years of intense public attention surrounding their marriage.
Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris in August 1997. She was 36 years old.
