The Duke of Sussex reportedly endured a difficult week in the UK as plans to improve relations with the Royal Family appeared to fall apart.
Prince Harry is said to be disappointed after his latest visit to England failed to bring the progress he had hoped for with the Royal Family.
The Duke of Sussex travelled to the UK to mark the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games. The trip was also seen as a possible opportunity for him to repair his strained relationship with King Charles.
However, royal expert Russell Myers claimed that the visit quickly became one of the most difficult weeks Harry had faced in recent times.
Writing for the Mirror, Myers said there had initially been speculation that Harry might travel with Meghan Markle and their children.
“Harry was on his way with Meghan and their children. A family celebration? A reconciliation, perhaps?” he wrote.
There was also talk that the Sussexes could stay at a royal residence, receive an olive branch from the King and make a public appearance together.
“But one by one, the wheels started to come off,” Myers added.
According to the royal commentator, Harry travelled to the UK alone because of his concerns about security. He was also reportedly unable to stay at his father’s residence and suffered a major defeat in a high-profile court case.
Myers described the trip as a serious setback for the duke.
“What was supposed to be his latest attempt at redemption with the public and perhaps improved relations with his family has turned into an unmitigated disaster,” he claimed.
Neither Prince Harry nor Buckingham Palace has confirmed that formal reconciliation talks were planned during the visit.
