False Claim About Kate Middleton ‘Sneaking Out the Back Door’ Angers Royal Supporters

A video of Kate Middleton running through the rain at Windsor Castle has resurfaced on social media with a misleading caption, prompting criticism from royal supporters.

The clip was shared on X by Matt Wallace, an account with more than two million followers. He wrote: “Kate Middleton caught sneaking out the back door in all red. She looks extremely nervous after she sees the camera.”

The claim quickly drew a strong reaction from royal fans, who pointed out that the footage had been taken out of context.

The video originally appeared in January, when the Princess of Wales was seen walking quickly through the rain during the Changing of the Guard ceremony at Windsor Castle.

Kate could be seen in the background of the footage carrying an umbrella and accompanied by an aide. She was wearing a crimson dress ahead of a reception at Windsor Castle for England’s women’s rugby team.

As Patron of the Rugby Football Union, the Princess welcomed the Red Roses following their Women’s Rugby World Cup victory in September 2025.

The footage did not show Kate attempting to leave secretly, despite the caption suggesting that she had been “caught sneaking out.” Instead, she appeared to be hurrying through wet weather while attending an official royal engagement.
