Speculation is growing that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could be considering spending more time in the UK, but there is no confirmation that the couple plans to move back permanently.
Writing for the Daily Mail, commentator Alison Boshoff suggested that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may be looking to repair their relationship with Britain following their royal departure.
“The Sussexes are seeking to reverse Megxit,” she wrote, adding that “a return to the UK is being contemplated in some form.”
Boshoff also suggested that the couple could use their holiday home in Portugal as a base for travelling more frequently between Britain and Europe.
The claims follow comments from a friend of Harry, who alleged that the Duke has recently begun to feel less welcome in the United States.
“There is definitely a feeling in his camp that he has started to feel a bit unwelcome in America,” the source claimed. “That has been an increasing and significant shift in sentiment, a feeling that the American dream might not be all that it was cracked up to be.”
According to the friend, the apparent change in outlook is not limited to Harry.
“This is coming from Meghan as well as from him,” the source said.
The insider also claimed that England remains emotionally important to Harry, despite the life he and Meghan have built in California.
“England is where Harry’s heart has always lain,” the source said, adding that the Sussexes originally moved to the US partly to pursue financial and professional opportunities.
Meghan, meanwhile, is reportedly finding it challenging to build momentum around her latest ideas and projects. The source suggested that enough time may now have passed for the couple to consider rebuilding some of their connections with Britain.
For now, however, reports of a UK return remain speculation. Neither Harry nor Meghan has announced plans to relocate or reverse their decision to step back from royal duties.
