King Charles has shared a message of support for England following the national football team’s World Cup semifinal loss to Argentina.
Posting on the Royal Family’s official Instagram account, the monarch offered words of encouragement to captain Harry Kane and the rest of the squad.
Alongside a photograph of Kane and Jude Bellingham, the message read: “Commiserations to Harry and the team.
“While you Three Lions may be licking your wounds today, you remain the pride of a nation and will rise again.”
Prince William also praised the team in a message shared through his official Instagram account.
“Gutted. England, you gave it everything and we are all so proud of you,” the Prince of Wales wrote.
“Thank you to everyone on and off the pitch for an incredible tournament. The fight and belief you have shown has inspired us all.”
William concluded by describing the squad as “the most complete England team in a tournament” and urged the players to hold their heads high despite the painful defeat.
