Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have faced criticism after details about their confidential meeting with King Charles emerged in the media.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had reportedly agreed not to share photographs or information about the family gathering. However, a source believed to be close to the couple later discussed the secrecy surrounding the meeting with Vanity Fair.
“They are keeping the meeting top secret. They haven’t said anything to anyone,” the source said. “The agreement was made before they met the King that nothing would be shared, no photos, no details.”
The insider added that the gathering had been a “top-secret arrangement” and claimed those involved were pleased it had taken place without advance publicity.
The comments prompted a backlash on social media, with some users arguing that discussing the confidentiality agreement was itself a form of leaking information.
“They are telling us they kept the meeting secret, no leaks, while leaking to the press,” one X user wrote, claiming the King would not be pleased.
Another suggested Charles would not be surprised by the disclosure, while a third said it was only a matter of time before information about the meeting emerged.
Neither Harry and Meghan nor Buckingham Palace has publicly responded to the online criticism.
