King Charles appears to have proved a celebrity psychic’s prediction about his future wrong as he continues to carry out royal duties while receiving cancer treatment.
In 2022, psychic John Hughes made several predictions concerning the Royal Family, including King Charles, Prince William, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Speaking to BirminghamLive at the time, Hughes claimed Charles would abdicate “within seven years” and allow Prince William to become king.
“He doesn’t want to waste millions of pounds on a state funeral. William will take over the role within the next seven years,” Hughes said.
He also claimed that Charles would struggle to follow in Queen Elizabeth II’s footsteps and would eventually restructure the monarchy to make way for a younger king.
Four years later, however, Charles remains firmly on the throne and continues to fulfil his royal responsibilities.
The King has been receiving treatment since Buckingham Palace announced his cancer diagnosis in February 2024. Despite his health challenges, he has continued making public appearances and performing official duties, giving no public indication that he intends to step down.
Abdication has long been considered a sensitive subject within the British Royal Family, particularly because of the constitutional crisis triggered by King Edward VIII’s decision to give up the throne in 1936.
For now, King Charles’ continued commitment to his role suggests that speculation about an early abdication remains just that: speculation.
