King Charles' private meeting with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have done more to help the Sussexes than the monarch, according to royal expert Kinsey Schofield.
Schofield claimed the meeting effectively gave Harry “the win that he needed.” She suggested that Charles may have agreed to the reunion because he wanted to protect his legacy and show that he had made every possible effort to repair his relationship with his youngest son.
“I wonder if King Charles, legacy-wise, wants to be seen as the bigger person,” she said.
The royal commentator alleged that Harry and Meghan “are never going to be” the bigger people in the dispute. She added that the King may have deliberately put their past disagreements aside in an attempt to move the family relationship forward.
However, Schofield argued that the decision risked making Charles appear weak while allowing Harry and Meghan to present the meeting as a positive development.
King Charles and Queen Camilla reportedly welcomed Harry, Meghan and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to the Highgrove estate in western England last Friday.
The private gathering marked Charles' first meeting with seven-year-old Archie and five-year-old Lilibet since 2022.
A palace source described the reunion as a private family occasion, adding that no photographs, videos or further details would be released.
