King Charles is reportedly hoping to spend more time with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet following a private family reunion at Highgrove House.
The quietly arranged gathering took place during Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent visit to Britain. It reportedly marked the first time the monarch had seen his grandchildren since 2022.
Royal experts believe Charles may now try to find a practical way to maintain contact with Archie and Lilibet, despite his demanding schedule and the continuing tensions surrounding Harry’s security arrangements.
Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, said the King’s age could make time with his grandchildren increasingly important to him.
“Because of the King’s age, I think Charles himself will want to spend time with his grandchildren,” she said.
Seward suggested that the annual royal summer stay at Balmoral could offer the best opportunity for future meetings.
“Though with his schedule, I think the only chance he will get to spend with them is during the annual summer trip to Scotland for the long Balmoral break,” she said.
She added that a visit this summer appeared unlikely, but believed the Sussex family could return to Scotland in the years ahead.
According to Seward, Scotland may also help address Prince Harry’s concerns about security during visits to the UK.
“I think the King will say to Harry, ‘Darling boy, you know I can only really see you in Scotland,’ where he will be given assurances about security, and that is what I think will happen,” she said.
Harry has spent years challenging the decision to remove automatic police protection for himself and his family while in Britain. His efforts have faced several legal setbacks and delays.
Seward also claimed that Archie and Lilibet could eventually question why they were raised at a distance from their British relatives, royal heritage and family roots.
