King Charles reportedly believed that bringing Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their children back to Britain could help ease years of tension within the royal family.
However, a reported private reconciliation effort involving Harry and his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, has “failed miserably,” according to palace insiders cited by Radar Online.
Sources claimed the King’s alleged plan, described by insiders as “Project Thaw,” was aimed at creating a chance for Harry, Meghan and their children to spend time in the UK, even briefly, in the hope that it might open the door to calmer family discussions.
According to one insider, Charles “genuinely believed” that having the Sussex family back on British soil could create the right setting for private conversations and small steps toward reconciliation.
The source added that there was also hope that seeing Harry and Meghan in the UK again with their children might gradually soften public attitudes and help change the narrative around the couple after years of division.
But insiders claimed the effort has not worked as hoped.
They said relations between Prince Harry and the Prince and Princess of Wales remain extremely strained, making any meaningful family breakthrough difficult.
Queen Camilla has also reportedly warned King Charles about Harry and Meghan, amid ongoing concerns within the palace over trust and future tensions.
The sources further claimed that public opinion toward the California-based royals remains low in the UK, with polling suggesting much of the goodwill the couple once enjoyed has faded.
