King Charles is reportedly disappointed with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after the couple allegedly failed to follow conditions set for a possible royal reunion.
According to a source quoted by New Idea, the monarch had been warned that private details surrounding the meeting could become public. Despite those concerns, he was said to have kept the door open in the hope of rebuilding his relationship with his younger son.
“Charles is extremely disappointed,” the source claimed. “He was told by everyone, including William, that Harry and Meghan wouldn’t be able to keep quiet, but he still opened the doors for this reunion.”
Queen Camilla was also reportedly clear about the family’s expectations, particularly regarding social media activity.
The insider claimed that her request for no social media posts had “fallen on deaf ears,” adding that Meghan would have been mistaken to believe a visit to Althorp was exempt from those conditions.
The situation has reportedly left Charles torn between his desire to welcome Harry back and his concerns about how much their relationship has changed.
“He wants Harry back home where he belongs, but this isn’t the Harry he once knew,” the source said.
The report further claimed that other members of the Royal Family are now strongly opposed to inviting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to spend Christmas with them.
Neither Buckingham Palace nor representatives for Harry and Meghan have publicly confirmed the claims.
