King Charles has paid a warm tribute to Queen Camilla as she celebrated her 79th birthday.
To mark the occasion, Buckingham Palace released a new portrait of the Queen and shared a special birthday message on social media on July 17.
“Happy Birthday to The Queen!” the caption read alongside the photograph.
The Palace also announced that Queen Camilla was marking her birthday by renewing her commitment to children's literacy. As part of the initiative, every Year 6 and P6 pupil across the UK will receive a special edition of Katherine Rundell’s bestselling book, Impossible Creatures, for Christmas.
The program is being led by the National Literacy Trust, an organization of which Queen Camilla is patron, and forms part of the National Year of Reading 2026.
King Charles and Queen Camilla married in 2005 after knowing each other for several decades. They first met at a polo match in 1970 and briefly dated before going on to marry other people.
Charles married Princess Diana in 1981, while Camilla married Andrew Parker Bowles. Camilla has two children from her previous marriage, Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes.
