Meghan Markle’s upcoming appearance on MasterChef Australia has sparked a divided reaction among viewers, with some fans threatening to skip the episode.
Network 10 confirmed that the Duchess of Sussex will appear as a guest judge on the popular cooking competition in an episode scheduled to air on July 26. However, the announcement quickly drew criticism in the comments section of the show’s Instagram post.
“I love watching MasterChef, but won’t be watching it with her,” one viewer wrote.
Another commented, “First time since the beginning of this show that I WON’T be watching. First time!”
Some viewers also questioned Meghan’s suitability for the role, pointing out that the former Suits star is not a professional chef.
During the episode, Meghan will challenge contestants to prepare dishes that celebrate seasonal ingredients while sharing the personal stories behind their recipes.
Speaking about her decision to join the show, Meghan said her love of food and Australia made the opportunity difficult to turn down.
“What attracted me to the MasterChef Australia kitchen? Two things: my love of food and my love of Australia. It was an easy yes,” she said.
“I’m just really honoured that I was asked to be able to be here with you and to be able to judge some of these meals,” Meghan added.
