Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly facing fresh tension within their marriage as they prepare for a possible return to the UK.
According to a royal expert, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may have different hopes for the visit. Harry is said to be emotionally drawn to the idea of reconnecting with King Charles and the rest of his family, while Meghan is reportedly focused on restoring her royal profile.
Royal commentator Mark Dolan discussed the couple’s possible return during an appearance on Matt Wilkinson’s The Royal Exclusive podcast.
“I think that Harry wants to come back to the UK because he misses his family,” Dolan claimed.
He added that Harry also misses royal life, his former duties and the country where he grew up. The expert suggested that the Duke may also want his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to spend more time with their grandfather, King Charles.
However, Dolan claimed Meghan’s reasons for visiting may be more strategic.
“I believe that Meghan is pathologically transactional, and so I think this trip is strategic for her,” he alleged.
Speaking about Harry, Dolan said the trip appears to be more emotional and nostalgic, which he believes could create “a big tension within the marriage.”
Harry is expected to return to Britain next week and is reportedly hoping to bring Archie and Lilibet for a rare visit. The trip would give his children a chance to see the country where he grew up, despite the privacy concerns and family disputes that have continued to surround the Sussexes.
Harry has previously expressed his wish to repair ties with the royal family, telling the BBC: “I would love reconciliation with my family.”
