Prince Harry is currently in Britain without Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, as fresh concerns emerge over the possible financial impact of a recent ruling in his privacy case.
Royal insiders have reportedly warned that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could face serious financial pressure following the legal setback.
Speaking to royal commentator Rob Shuter, sources claimed the verdict could have major consequences for the couple. Harry has spent years pursuing legal action against sections of the British press, but insiders now fear he could be left with a substantial legal bill instead of the outcome he had hoped for.
Some legal commentators have estimated that the total cost of the case, including lawyers’ fees and trial expenses, could reach tens of millions of dollars. Under UK legal rules, Harry may also be required to cover part of Associated Newspapers’ costs, which could add significantly to the final amount.
However, the exact financial impact has not been officially confirmed.
Sources claimed the timing is particularly difficult for Harry and Meghan, who already face high expenses while maintaining their life in California. Their private security arrangements are believed to be among their largest ongoing costs.
“People think Harry and Meghan have unlimited money, but they don’t,” one insider told Shuter. “They’ve earned a fortune, but they’ve spent one too. A financial hit of this size changes the conversation overnight.”
Shuter suggested that, should the higher estimates prove accurate, the couple may be forced to reconsider some aspects of their expensive lifestyle.
The situation has also raised new questions about how the Sussexes will manage their long-term finances as they continue to support their family, security needs and business projects outside the royal family.
