Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reportedly subjected to stringent security checks before their private reunion with King Charles and Queen Camilla in the UK.
Radar Online, citing unnamed insiders, claimed the instructions came directly from the King amid continuing concerns about privacy and the possible disclosure of sensitive family conversations.
Harry and Meghan reportedly visited Charles and Camilla at the King’s private Highgrove residence in Gloucestershire with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The meeting allegedly took place after Harry completed engagements connected to preparations for the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
According to a source, officials took extensive precautions before allowing the Sussex family to enter the residence.
“Every precaution was taken before the Sussexes were allowed into the residence,” the insider claimed. “Staff were determined that nothing capable of recording private conversations or compromising security would make its way inside.”
The source alleged that the checks were uncomfortable for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who were reportedly searched in the same manner as other visitors.
“It was undoubtedly an uncomfortable experience for Harry and Meghan, as they were essentially frisked like any other commoner,” the insider said. “But those organizing the visit believed it was essential, and the order came directly from Charles.”
Sources described the alleged searches as embarrassing for the couple. However, they claimed that palace officials and the King believed there was “no alternative” if the meeting was to remain completely private.
Neither Buckingham Palace nor representatives for Harry and Meghan appear to have publicly confirmed the reported security measures.
