Meghan Markle given stark reminder before possible UK return

Meghan Markle’s rumored return to the UK has sparked plenty of online reaction, and one PR expert believes the visit could go one of two ways.

Renae Smith, founder of PR and branding agency The Atticism, shared her thoughts with the Daily Express, saying Meghan has a real opportunity to avoid becoming the center of attention and instead show support for Prince Harry.

According to Smith, the key would be restraint.

“Could Meghan humiliate herself? Absolutely,” she said. But she also noted that the Duchess of Sussex has a chance to do something the public has not often seen from her: simply support her husband without taking over the story.

Smith said her advice to Meghan would be straightforward.

“If I were advising her, my advice would be very simple: take the Princess of Wales approach for this trip. Show up, support your husband, be warm, gracious and present, but don’t try to own the narrative,” she explained.

She added that Meghan should avoid making speeches unless necessary, creating separate public moments, or becoming the main headline.

“This is Harry’s event and Harry’s legacy. Let him shine,” Smith said.

The expert also suggested that the visit could help Meghan rebuild some credibility if handled carefully.

“This is an opportunity to demonstrate that the cause genuinely comes first,” she said. “If she can do that, I actually think it would be received positively. Not because everyone will suddenly love Meghan, they won’t, but because consistency and restraint build credibility over time.”
