Prince Harry reportedly believes Prince William remains the biggest obstacle to repairing his relationship with the Royal family.
Although King Charles still leads the monarchy, Harry is said to understand that any lasting reconciliation will also require the approval of his older brother, who is next in line to the throne.
A source told Woman’s Day that Harry is determined to meet William and hopes to take the first step towards ending their long-running feud.
“Harry has every intention of meeting with his brother,” the insider claimed, adding that the Duke of Sussex wants to be the “bigger guy” by initiating peace talks.
According to the source, Harry believes even a basic level of civility between the brothers could improve the wider family situation and bring some comfort to their father.
“He believes if they can get to a point of basic civility, it will open so many doors and make their father happy,” the insider said.
However, William is reportedly reluctant to engage with Harry because of the lack of trust between them.
The source claimed there is little Harry could say to undo the hurt caused by his and Meghan Markle’s public criticism of the Royal family, particularly the impact it allegedly had on William and Princess Kate.
“William has been resistant to any interaction with Harry for the simple fact that he doesn’t trust him,” the insider said.
Despite his reservations, William is reportedly considering a meeting out of respect for King Charles.
Why Prince William Reportedly Feels Torn
According to the source, the Prince of Wales feels caught between his personal feelings towards Harry and his father’s desire to see the brothers reconcile.
“William feels torn as this is something his father wants,” the insider claimed. “Charles wouldn’t want to force it, but he has made it very clear to William that this is one of his final wishes.”
The source added that Charles expects William to demonstrate the patience and leadership required of a future king.
William is therefore said to be considering a brief meeting with Harry, possibly lasting no longer than 30 minutes.
“William knows he can’t say no to his father,” the insider claimed.
Queen Camilla is also reportedly concerned about how King Charles might handle a private conversation with Harry.
Another source alleged that Camilla worries Charles may allow emotion to influence his decisions because he “leads with his heart.”
With William expected to take on greater responsibilities in the future, Harry is reportedly under pressure to repair the family relationship before it becomes even more difficult.
The insider claimed that failure to make progress could also affect the future relationship between the Royal family and Harry’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
