Prince Harry still 'craves' security as UK family visit faces uncertainty

Prince Harry's reported plans to bring Meghan Markle and their children to the UK appear to be uncertain as questions over his security arrangements continue.

The Duke of Sussex had previously indicated that he hoped to return to Britain with Meghan, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet as part of events marking the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games. However, reports now suggest those plans may have changed amid the ongoing dispute over his security.

The uncertainty comes as the Home Office continues to defend its decision regarding Harry's taxpayer-funded police protection in the UK.

Speaking on Loose Women, royal editor Russell Myers suggested Harry may have announced the trip before his security situation had been fully resolved.

"It looks like Harry jumped the gun because he thought he was going to be afforded this protection which he so craves," Myers said. "What happened was he put out a statement saying the whole family was coming to the UK, and then had to row back on it."

Myers acknowledged that Harry's concerns over security are understandable, given his background and public profile.

"Harry is the son of the King, a former British soldier, and there have been threats against him and his family," he said.

He added that the ongoing debate has raised questions about whether the current security arrangements remain appropriate.

"It is difficult to understand how the proportionality of the current arrangements can credibly be maintained without that independent assessment," Myers said.
