Prince Harry is reportedly feeling "stressed and very disappointed" as he continues to explore ways to bring his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, Archie and Lilibet, to the UK despite ongoing security concerns.
According to Vanity Fair, citing royal insiders, the Duke of Sussex was left devastated after learning that the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) would not provide full-time police protection for his family during a visit to Britain. One source claimed Harry was "close to tears" after receiving the decision.
The report says Harry had believed his family's security concerns would be resolved after King Charles offered them the use of a royal residence during their stay. However, the expected level of police protection did not follow.
"The King had made a royal residence available to them, and Harry believed he would finally receive the full-time police protection he has been seeking," the insider said. "That has not happened. The King has made it clear that while he wants to see his estranged son and grandchildren, he will not intervene in security matters."
Sources close to Harry told the publication that the Duke remains deeply concerned about his family's safety and is frustrated that the security arrangements fall short of what he believes is necessary when traveling in the UK.
Despite the setback, Prince Harry's spokesperson said he is still exploring "every available option" to allow the family to travel to Britain safely, with a visit reportedly being considered around July 7.
The spokesperson also emphasized that accommodation has never been the main issue. Instead, the focus has always been securing "appropriate and proportionate protective security" so that Harry's children can safely visit and experience the UK.
