Prince Harry's relationship with King Charles is once again under scrutiny following reports surrounding his accommodation arrangements during his latest visit to the UK.
The Duke of Sussex reportedly travelled to Britain after an earlier offer to stay at Buckingham Palace was no longer available, prompting renewed speculation about tensions between father and son.
Speaking to The Mirror, royal expert Duncan Larcombe said the situation is unlikely to help repair their already fragile relationship.
"Harry's team seem pretty set on the fact that he was lined up to go to Buckingham Palace, so it's a mix-up, and it's not going to help his relationship with his father because these are delicate issues for a King," Larcombe said.
He added that while the accommodation issue has generated unwanted attention, it should not affect the purpose of Harry's visit.
"There are plenty of places he can stay, but royal residences do require advance notice," Larcombe explained, suggesting the latest developments have added unnecessary drama to what could have been a straightforward trip.
The royal commentator also claimed Harry remains eager for his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to spend time with their grandfather now that they are older.
According to Larcombe, there is still a possibility that Meghan Markle and the couple's children could travel to the UK later, as the family is reportedly already in Europe on holiday. If that happens, he believes Harry may still have an opportunity to introduce Archie and Lilibet to King Charles.
For now, however, Larcombe said the latest accommodation dispute has turned what should have been a routine visit into another challenge for the Duke and the Royal Family.
Neither Buckingham Palace nor Prince Harry has publicly commented on the latest reports.
