Prince William has praised England following the team’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Norway in the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Prince of Wales shared his reaction on X, formerly known as Twitter, after England secured a place in the semi-finals with an extra-time win at Miami Stadium on Saturday.
“Well done England! Top performance in a tough environment. This is a special team,” William wrote.
He also offered his sympathy to Norway before celebrating England’s progress.
“Commiserations to a proud Norway team. Onto the semi-final… Never in doubt!”
William later reshared a post from England’s official account marking the victory.
“Into the final four of the @FIFAWorldCup. GET IN THERE!” the post read.
The Prince of Wales is Patron of the Football Association and has long been an enthusiastic supporter of the national team. He regularly attends major England fixtures and FA Cup finals and is also a devoted Aston Villa fan.
England’s latest victory marks the fourth time the team has reached the World Cup semi-finals, following appearances in 1966, 1990 and 2018.
Former England captain Sir David Beckham also celebrated the result on Instagram, describing the occasion as a special moment for his family.
“What a moment in Miami,” Beckham wrote. “I’m so proud of the team tonight reaching the semi-final of the World Cup, and to celebrate with my family was so special. Thank you @england for giving our country these moments.”
Beckham also shared a photograph from the stadium with his wife, Victoria Beckham, their daughter Harper, and their sons Romeo and Cruz.
