Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Accused of Calling Negative Coverage a ‘Media Witch Hunt’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been criticised over what one commentator described as their selective approach to media attention.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently lost a legal case against Associated Newspapers Limited, prompting fresh debate over their relationship with the British press.

Writing in The Telegraph, journalist Camilla Tominey said she felt “vindicated” by Mr Justice Nicklin’s ruling in Harry’s case against the publisher.

Tominey argued that the couple appear comfortable with publicity when the coverage is positive but respond differently when faced with criticism.

“The truth, the whole truth, not the Sussexes’ version of it, is that they have always been entirely comfortable with publicity, provided it is flattering,” she wrote.

She added that when an unfavourable headline appears, even one she considers accurate, it is quickly portrayed as part of a “media witch hunt.”

Harry and Meghan stepped back from their roles as senior members of the Royal Family in 2020 and later moved to California with their son, Prince Archie.

Since leaving royal duties, the couple have spoken publicly about their experiences within the monarchy, including allegations of racism and concerns about their treatment by the press.

They now live in the United States with Archie and their daughter, Princess Lilibet.
