Prince William visited Hastings Commons during his trip to Hastings, where he met young people and volunteers helping to breathe new life into neglected buildings.
The Prince of Wales toured the community-led regeneration project, which has transformed several historic properties into homes, workspaces and welcoming public spaces.
Photos and a video from the visit were shared on the official Instagram account of the Prince and Princess of Wales on Thursday.
During the visit, Prince William spent time with young people at the local youth club and visited the Common Room, described as a “Public Living Room.” The space is open to anyone looking for conversation, support or a sense of community.
The Instagram post said: “A visit to Hastings Commons, where neglected buildings have been transformed into homes, workspaces and welcoming community spaces.”
It continued: “Meeting young people at the youth club and spending time in the ‘Public Living Room’, a place where anyone can find warmth, conversation and connection. A powerful example of how community-led regeneration is creating opportunities and bringing people together.”
The visit highlighted how local projects can create stronger connections, provide new opportunities and give young people spaces to build friendships away from the pressures of social media.
