Prince William is reportedly unhappy about claims that Meghan Markle could be involved in a documentary project marking the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death.
According to Closer, members of the Royal Family are concerned that the Duchess of Sussex may return to the United Kingdom not to repair strained relationships, but to gather material for a possible Netflix production.
A source claimed William is particularly upset by the idea of Meghan taking part in any tribute connected to his late mother.
“It sickens him that she’s going to have any part in this tribute to his mother,” the insider alleged.
The source further claimed that William continues to blame Meghan for contributing to divisions within the Royal Family and does not believe Diana would have approved of the current situation.
His reported frustration is also said to be linked to Prince Harry’s previous comparisons between Meghan and Diana.
In the 2022 Netflix series Harry & Meghan, the Duke of Sussex spoke about qualities he believed his wife shared with his mother, including her warmth, empathy and confidence.
According to the report, William found those comparisons deeply offensive and believes they were intended to present Meghan as a modern version of Diana.
The situation has reportedly become even more sensitive amid claims that Harry and Meghan may stay at Althorp, the Spencer family estate where Diana grew up and was later laid to rest.
An insider alleged that William is considering intervening to prevent the couple from using the location as part of any media project.
“As far as he’s concerned, they are using Diana’s legacy to help build Meghan’s brand, and that’s something he’ll never stand for,” the source claimed.
The report concluded by suggesting that comparisons between Meghan and Diana remain a particularly sensitive subject for the Prince of Wales, given the continuing tension between him and his sister-in-law.
