Buckingham Palace has announced that it will remain open to visitors this summer, shortly after Balmoral Castle closed its doors to the public.
In a joint social media post, Buckingham Palace and the Royal Collection Trust unveiled a new display featuring handwritten letters and drawings sent to King Charles by children from around the world.
“This summer at Buckingham Palace, explore a new display that reproduces handwritten letters and drawings sent to The King by children from around the world,” the announcement read.
It added: “Many children write to His Majesty to highlight shared interests including the environment and sustainability or ask about his duties as Monarch and Head of the Commonwealth.”
The palace also confirmed that visitors will be able to tour Buckingham Palace until September 27, 2026.
The update came a day after Balmoral Castle announced its closure to the public as the royal family prepares to spend time at the Scottish estate.
A statement shared on Balmoral Castle’s official Instagram account on Sunday read: “Balmoral Castle, including the grounds, gardens and exhibitions, is now closed to the public.
“Thank you to everyone who visited the Castle and Estate during the 2026 summer season. We hope you enjoyed your time at Balmoral and left with lasting memories of your visit.”
The estate encouraged followers to keep an eye on its social media channels for future updates, including the return of the Balmoral Castle Exclusively Highlands Artisan Market on November 6, 7 and 8.
