The Sussexes’ reported plans for Archie and Lilibet could point to a permanent move
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be preparing for a much longer stay in Britain than first expected.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly arrived in the UK on Wednesday, August 26, marking their return six years after they stepped back as senior working royals.
Reports suggest the move is connected to the education of their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Although Harry and Meghan have not confirmed their plans, they are said to have selected a British school for both children.
Royal commentator Katie Nicholl believes this could be a clear sign that the family intends to remain in the country for the long term.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Nicholl claimed the couple had chosen a private preparatory school in the Cotswolds.
“The fact that they are enrolling both of their children into a really good private prep school all points to this being a longer-term move,” she said.
However, a return to Britain does not mean Harry and Meghan are planning to resume royal duties. According to Nicholl, the couple still wants to live independently and protect their family life from public scrutiny.
“Harry and Meghan have made it clear that they want to be able to be private individuals,” she explained. “They want their children to be able to enroll at their new school and be able to enjoy a private life.”
The Sussexes are also reportedly settling into a secure home in the countryside, where they would have more privacy and space away from the spotlight.
The couple has yet to announce how long it will remain in the UK. Still, if the reports surrounding the children’s school and the family’s new home are accurate, this may be the beginning of a long-term return rather than a temporary visit.
