The Duke of Sussex reportedly arrived in England with his family on Wednesday, August 26
King Charles is said to be delighted about Prince Harry’s return to the UK, particularly because it could allow him to spend more time with his son and grandchildren.
Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl shared the claim during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, citing a source close to the monarch.
“I was speaking to a close contact to the King today who was saying he is genuinely pleased that Harry is coming back, that it’s going to mean he gets to see more of his son,” Nicholl said.
She added that the reported move could also give Charles more opportunities to see Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
“He’s going to get to see more of his grandchildren, and I think for any grandfather, regardless of his health, that is something to look forward to,” she explained.
According to Nicholl, the King also hopes other members of the royal family will welcome Harry and Meghan as they adjust to life in Britain.
However, any reconciliation between Harry and his older brother, Prince William, may still be a long way off. Nicholl claimed William remains upset about the Sussexes’ sudden decision to return.
“I’m still being told that [a reconciliation] is some way off, that William is still very angry that he has been completely blindsided by the Sussexes’ very sudden decision to move back to Britain,” she said.
Nicholl noted that the timing also comes during an important period for William and Catherine, as the Princess of Wales prepares for a busy autumn after announcing that she is in remission.
Harry reportedly arrived in England with Meghan and their two children on Wednesday, August 26. While Charles is said to welcome the chance for more family time, it remains unclear whether Harry’s return will help repair his strained relationship with William.
