One of King Charles and Queen Camilla’s racehorses has reportedly been sold in a deal believed to be worth millions.
Point of Law, who raced for the royal couple at Royal Ascot, has been bought by leading Australian trainer Ciaron Maher alongside a syndicate of co-owners, according to GB News.
The horse has already left the Gosden stable in Newmarket and moved to fellow trainer Harry Eustace. Eustace will reportedly oversee preparations before Point of Law makes the journey to Australia.
Maher, who has previously won the Melbourne Cup, is said to have travelled to both Ascot and Newmarket to watch the horse compete before finalising the purchase.
Royal racing adviser John Warren confirmed the sale to horse racing outlet The Straight and said the King and Queen would be keen to follow Point of Law’s next chapter overseas.
“I’m sure Their Majesties will derive great pleasure following Point of Law’s continued career in Australia,” Warren said.
He added that selling colts is a normal part of breeding and racing for owner-breeders, noting that the royal couple wished Maher and the new owners “the best of luck” for the horse’s future.
