Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been urged to seek forgiveness if they hope to repair their relationship with King Charles and bring the wider family closer together.
The advice comes amid reports that reuniting their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, with the monarch remains one of Harry’s main priorities.
Speaking to News24, royal and branding expert Sharon Williams said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may need to acknowledge the damage caused by their public criticism of the royal family before meaningful progress can be made.
Williams suggested the situation had reached a crucial stage following Harry’s recent contact with his father.
“We are at a critical turning point because, rather than continued distance, he has just seen his father for the first time in some years,” she said, adding that it remains unclear whether the separation between them will continue.
The expert also argued that Harry’s public comments about his relatives have harmed his personal image. She claimed that both Harry and Meghan had contributed to the tensions by speaking critically about their families in interviews and other media appearances.
According to Williams, the couple would need to show regret and ask for forgiveness if they genuinely wanted to rebuild trust with the King.
However, she questioned whether they would be willing to take such a step, saying the couple had so far shown little public willingness to accept responsibility for the breakdown in their family relationships.
Her comments come as reports suggest Harry is determined to create more opportunities for Archie and Lilibet to spend time with their grandfather.
“Getting the kids back together with Charles is absolutely top of Harry’s agenda,” a source reportedly claimed.
