The alert comes amid reports that King Charles has invited the Sussexes to spend part of the summer at Balmoral
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly been warned that their Montecito mansion could face a renewed threat from severe weather later this year.
According to HELLO!, experts are concerned that heavy rainfall following the summer months could increase the risk of flooding and mudslides in the area where the couple lives with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The concern reportedly centers on San Ysidro Creek, which runs close to the Sussexes’ gated community. Montecito has experienced destructive weather in the past, with flooding and landslides forcing residents to leave their homes.
Former Montecito resident Ellen DeGeneres was among those previously ordered to evacuate because of dangerous conditions in the area.
The outlet also cited businessman Terry Cunningham, who built Harry and Meghan’s sprawling home. Cunningham reportedly spent four years carefully developing the property but later admitted that he had not fully considered the area’s weather-related risks.
Experts now fear that once the dry summer season ends and rainfall returns, nearby properties could once again be vulnerable to flooding and mudslides.
The warning comes as Harry and Meghan are reportedly considering an invitation from King Charles to join the Royal Family at Balmoral for a summer holiday.
Harry is also expected to return to Britain for the upcoming WellChild Awards.
