The Sussexes reportedly feel encouraged by the King’s attempts to maintain a bond with their children
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly pleased with King Charles’ efforts to put the family rift behind him and build a lasting relationship with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Years after the Sussexes stepped back from royal duties and settled in California, the family is said to have made its first child-focused trip to see Charles since Archie and Lilibet were infants.
Speaking to Closer, a source close to Harry and Meghan claimed the couple feels encouraged by the King’s commitment to repairing ties despite reported resistance elsewhere within the Royal Family.
“The fact that Charles is working so hard to put this rift in the past and lay the groundwork for the future, not just for Harry and Meghan but for their children and future generations, is hugely satisfying,” the insider said.
The source added that Harry and Meghan no longer feel they need the approval of Prince William and Princess Kate to maintain their place within the family.
“It’s becoming increasingly clear that they don’t need William and Kate’s approval, which has really boosted Meghan’s confidence,” the insider claimed.
According to the source, the Sussexes believe William, and possibly Kate, previously tried to make royal life difficult for them and block their plans.
“Ultimately, they failed, so of course Meghan and Harry both feel vindicated,” the insider said.
Despite the lingering tension, Harry and Meghan reportedly remain open to improving their relationship with the Prince and Princess of Wales.
“They would still very much like to have a better relationship with William and Kate, and they do intend to work towards that,” the source added.
However, the couple reportedly believes that even if a reconciliation with William and Kate never happens, they and their children will continue to have a place within the Royal Family.
