Meghan Markle ‘prepared to face criticism’ ahead of possible UK return

Meghan Markle is unlikely to let public criticism stop her from returning to the UK with Prince Harry, according to a royal expert.

The Duchess of Sussex recently accompanied her husband to Highgrove House for a family gathering with King Charles. She could return to Britain as Harry prepares for the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.

Royal expert Jennie Bond acknowledged that Meghan remains a divisive figure in the UK, with both her supporters and critics expressing strong opinions about her.

“There’s no getting away from the fact that Meghan sharply divides opinion in this country. Her critics and her fans are equally vocal and passionate,” Bond said.

“I’m sure she’s aware that some, probably many, people in the UK blame her for Harry’s estrangement from his family.”

Bond added that Meghan would likely expect some criticism if she appeared at the Invictus Games or attended events marking the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death.

“She was clearly prepared to join Harry at some events this year, before the latest security row blew up, so there’s every prospect of her joining him at the Games next year,” the expert said.

“In fact, it would be rather odd if she didn’t, as it has become something they always do together.”

Bond expressed hope that Meghan would be able to attend without facing a hostile public reaction, noting her close connection to Harry and the Invictus community.

“She’s Harry’s wife, he loves her and will want her there, and she’s very popular among the Invictus community,” she concluded.
