Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly hoping for another meeting with King Charles following their return to Britain.
Royal commentator Rob Shuter, writing in his Naughty But Nice Substack, has claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are keen to receive an invitation for another private tea with the monarch.
According to sources cited by Shuter, a meeting with Charles carries more importance for Harry and Meghan than simply catching up with family.
“Harry and Meghan remain non-working royals and will live privately, but insiders say being welcomed back by Charles is crucial,” Shuter wrote.
He suggested that despite stepping away from royal duties, the couple still benefit from maintaining a visible connection with the King and the wider royal family.
“They need Charles’ seal of approval,” Shuter continued, claiming that even a brief meeting or photograph with the monarch could have a major impact on how the couple are viewed publicly.
“One photograph, one cup of tea, one warm welcome from the King is worth more to Harry and Meghan than a dozen Hollywood deals,” he said. “It tells the world they’re back inside the royal orbit.”
Shuter further argued that Harry and Meghan do not necessarily need to return as working members of the royal family.
“They need to be royal adjacent,” he said.
According to the commentator, the couple can continue building their lives outside the monarchy while still benefiting from a close association with King Charles.
“Hollywood can give them attention,” Shuter added. “Only Charles can give them the royal relevance they can’t manufacture themselves.”
The claims suggest that another meeting with the King could carry both personal and public significance for Harry and Meghan as they look to redefine their relationship with the royal family.
