Queen Camilla is reportedly standing firmly behind Kate Middleton and Prince William following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to Britain.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in Birmingham on Wednesday for what is expected to be an extended stay in the UK. Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have also reportedly been enrolled in a private school.
According to the Daily Mail, royal expert Andrew Lownie has claimed that Camilla is “firmly on Team Kate” as the royal family deals with Harry and Meghan being back in Britain.
Lownie also suggested that the Queen has been encouraging King Charles to establish clear boundaries with the Sussexes.
“The Queen, who is very close to Kate, has been stiffening the resolve of the King to establish clear boundaries for [Harry and Meghan],” he said.
The royal expert went on to claim that there is still significant disagreement within the family over the way Charles has handled issues involving the Sussexes.
“There remains a great deal of family dissension about the way the King has handled the Sussex problem on top of the ‘too little, too late’ strategy on the disgraced former prince Andrew and his family,” Lownie added.
His comments came days after Camilla reportedly joined King Charles in hosting Harry and Meghan for tea at the monarch’s Gloucestershire residence.
However, Lownie suggested that Harry should not view Camilla’s friendly public manner as a sign that all past tensions have been forgotten.
He also claimed that Camilla has grown very close to Kate in the years since Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties, while remaining cautious about the King’s younger son and his wife.
The latest claims suggest that Camilla’s support remains firmly with William and Kate as the royal family navigates another sensitive chapter involving Harry and Meghan.
