Meghan Markle reportedly had very different plans in mind for her 45th birthday, but the celebration did not turn out quite as she had hoped.
The Duchess of Sussex marked her birthday on August 4 with Prince Harry and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, and later shared a glimpse of the occasion on social media.
According to royal commentator Rob Shuter, however, Meghan had initially dreamed of celebrating the milestone with a much bigger Hollywood-style gathering.
Shuter claimed the Duchess wanted an A-list party similar to some of the glamorous events associated with her past, with famous friends and major celebrity names among those she hoped would attend.
“Meghan loves a big party,” he said, claiming she had imagined “another iconic celebrity gathering” that would show she remained a major figure in Hollywood circles.
Names including Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, Serena Williams and Amal Clooney were reportedly among those envisioned for the guest list.
However, another source claimed the plans began to fall apart when it became clear that the expected crowd was not coming together.
“It quickly became obvious the guest list wasn’t coming together,” the insider alleged. “People were busy, relationships had changed, and the excitement around Meghan just isn’t what it once was. The big party quietly disappeared.”
Instead, Meghan reportedly spent the day privately with Harry, Archie and Lilibet.
Shuter, citing sources close to the situation, claimed the quieter celebration was a reminder of how much Meghan’s life has changed since she and Harry stepped away from royal duties.
“This wasn’t the life Meghan imagined when she left the palace,” he said.
Another source claimed the Duchess is now adjusting to a “much smaller world” than she once expected, despite appreciating the family life she has built in California.
“She’s grateful for her family, but there’s no denying it still stings,” the source alleged. “The spotlight isn’t as bright, and neither is the guest list.”
