Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly considering a public apology to King Charles as efforts to repair their strained relationship continue.
Royal commentator Rob Shuter claims discussions are taking place behind the scenes over whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should issue a carefully worded statement acknowledging the damage caused by years of tension with the Royal Family.
Writing in his latest Substack post and citing multiple royal sources, Shuter said the potential apology would be aimed at rebuilding trust with Charles while avoiding a complete reversal of everything Harry and Meghan have previously said publicly.
One insider explained that the idea is not for the couple to admit they were wrong about every aspect of the family dispute.
Instead, the source claimed the focus would be on recognizing the pain caused by the events of the past five years, with discussions now centered on exactly how such an apology should be phrased.
Another source said there is broad agreement that trust needs to be rebuilt, but finding the right language remains the biggest challenge.
According to the report, any statement would need to show King Charles the respect he is seeking without requiring Harry and Meghan to retract their past interviews, Netflix projects or claims made in Harry’s memoir, Spare.
Palace sources also reportedly stressed that an apology would not necessarily amount to a surrender.
Rather, it could serve as an acknowledgment that the long-running family dispute has gone too far.
The sources claimed Charles is looking for both peace and respect as reconciliation efforts move forward, and a carefully handled public statement from Harry and Meghan could potentially become an important step toward repairing relations.
