Prince Harry is reportedly hoping to spend Christmas with King Charles as he continues efforts to repair their strained relationship.
According to an insider who spoke to the Examiner, Harry is eager to rebuild his bond with his father, though the King would reportedly prefer to take things slowly.
“He wants this relationship, but he wants to rebuild it at a pace that’s comfortable for him,” the source said of Charles. “The problem is, it’s becoming pretty obvious that the Sussexes are in much more of a hurry to keep building on things.”
The insider claimed that Harry is already discussing the possibility of seeing his father over Christmas. He is also said to be keen for Charles to attend the Invictus Games in 2027.
“Harry wants to see his dad as often as physically possible,” the source said. “He’s already talking about Christmas, and there’s all this discussion about wanting Charles to join him at the Invictus Games in 2027. Harry keeps pushing, as does Meghan.”
Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly hoping to “make up for lost time,” but Charles is believed to favour a more cautious approach.
“Charles appreciates that, but as far as he’s concerned, it needs to be baby steps,” the insider added. The source also claimed that the King had underestimated how strongly Prince William would react to the reconciliation.
Separate reports have suggested that Charles wants to broker peace between his estranged sons, but William remains reluctant.
“He’s glad to be rebuilding a relationship with Harry, but there’s no doubt it’s an enormous undertaking,” another insider claimed.
The source added that the response within the royal family has been difficult for Charles to manage, while Harry’s eagerness to move forward may be complicating the situation.
For now, the possibility of a royal Christmas reunion remains unconfirmed.
