Prince William could eventually be forced to address his strained relationship with Prince Harry if the Duke of Sussex continues reaching out to the Royal Family.
The Prince of Wales has largely remained silent about the feud, choosing instead to focus on his family and royal responsibilities. However, royal correspondent Jennie Bond believes the situation may become harder to avoid if Harry begins spending more time in the UK.
“William, as far as we can see, seems set on concentrating on his own family and his work without the angst of dealing with his rift with Harry,” Bond told the Mirror.
“But, if Harry does start to come to the UK more often and to see their father, it’s going to become increasingly hard for William to ignore the situation.”
Bond also considered whether Princess Kate could help repair the brothers’ relationship, although she stressed that any involvement would depend on William’s wishes.
“Could Catherine perhaps act as peacemaker? Well, maybe. But only if she is satisfied that it is something William wants,” she explained.
“At this stage, there is absolutely no indication that this is the case. However, circumstances and feelings can change with time and so, as I always say, ‘never say never’.”
Bond added that Harry’s public remarks about his brother remain a major obstacle to reconciliation.
“When you think about the things he has said in public about his brother, he [Harry] has to remember that if you wash your dirty linen in public, and it was pretty dirty linen, then you shouldn’t expect the fees for your laundry to be met,” she concluded.
