Prince William may be making a costly mistake as Prince Harry works to rebuild his relationship with King Charles, according to a new report.
Harry's growing closeness with his father is reportedly creating fresh tension between the King and the Prince of Wales, leaving palace staff concerned about a deeper royal crisis.
An unnamed source told Heat that the situation has become increasingly uncomfortable behind palace walls.
“Their advisers are still communicating, but William and the King are barely acknowledging each other, even when they’re in the same meeting,” the insider claimed.
The source described the breakdown as “absolutely ludicrous,” adding that it is causing chaos and reflecting badly on everyone involved.
Some palace figures reportedly believe William’s reaction could be playing directly into Harry and Meghan’s hands. By distancing himself from Charles over the King’s apparent willingness to reconnect with Harry, William may be weakening his own position.
“A lot of people are saying William is playing straight into Harry and Meghan’s hands by alienating his father this way,” the source said.
Attempts to discuss the issue with William have allegedly been unsuccessful. The insider claimed that anyone who raises the subject risks being ignored or reprimanded, which has left advisers reluctant to intervene.
However, Charles reportedly believes the dispute can no longer be avoided.
“People have been avoiding it for months, but His Majesty has finally agreed that it’s time they sit down and face this before it gets any worse,” the source added.
Neither Buckingham Palace nor Kensington Palace has publicly addressed the reported tensions.
