Prince William reportedly has no intention of repairing his relationship with Prince Harry unless his younger brother offers a genuine apology and takes responsibility for the damage caused over the years.
The Prince of Wales is said to believe that Harry must acknowledge his mistakes before there can be any serious discussion about reconciliation.
A source told Closer Online that while Harry may have made some progress with King Charles, winning back William’s trust will be far more difficult.
“Harry might have won over his father, but it’s going to take a lot more than a few feeble gestures to convince William to give him another chance,” the insider claimed.
According to the source, William remains deeply hurt by Harry’s public comments about the Royal Family, including the interviews and memoir that placed private family matters under intense scrutiny.
The insider added that William has not forgotten the pressure the situation allegedly placed on his grandparents, or the pain and embarrassment he believes he and Princess Kate have experienced.
Royal commentator Emily Andrews has also claimed that William is determined to avoid an uncomfortable encounter with Harry and Meghan Markle during any future visit to Britain.
She said the couple were reportedly not offered accommodation at Windsor Castle or elsewhere on the Windsor estate because William did not want to risk seeing them close to his family home.
A meeting between the brothers could quickly become tense, Andrews suggested, describing the possibility as a “brutal showdown” that William would prefer to avoid.
She went as far as to claim that the Prince of Wales could ignore Harry altogether if the Duke of Sussex approached him unexpectedly.
For now, any reconciliation appears to depend on whether Harry is prepared to offer the kind of apology William reportedly believes is long overdue. Until then, the distance between the brothers is likely to remain.
