Sarah Ferguson and her former husband, Andrew, are reportedly “absolutely thrilled” about the possibility of welcoming another grandchild.
Their younger daughter, Princess Eugenie, is said to be expecting her third child this summer, and sources claim the news has brought fresh excitement to the York family.
According to insiders who spoke to the Examiner, Sarah and Andrew are eagerly looking forward to becoming grandparents again. They also reportedly believe the new arrival could help bring the wider royal family closer together.
The former couple are said to view the happy family occasion as a “golden opportunity” to repair the York family’s damaged reputation and rebuild relations with King Charles, Queen Camilla and other senior royals.
“They’re absolutely thrilled for Eugenie and very excited to be getting another grandchild,” a source claimed.
The insider added: “They’re also saying that nothing brings a family together quite like a newborn, so they’re seeing this as an opportunity to try and build a bridge with Charles, Camilla and the rest of their extended family.”
Andrew has reportedly been sharing updates about Eugenie’s pregnancy with relatives he remains in contact with, as well as some courtiers and royal staff members.
“He and Sarah are definitely looking at this as a foot back in the door with the Firm,” the source continued.
However, the former couple are said to understand that the birth of a new grandchild will not immediately resolve the tensions surrounding them.
“They know this baby isn’t going to erase everything that’s happened, but they can’t help but pin a lot of hope on this,” the insider said.
