Meghan Markle may consider applying for British citizenship now that she and Prince Harry have moved back to the UK with their children, according to a source quoted by RadarOnline.com. There is no confirmation that she plans to apply.
After Meghan married Harry in 2018, Kensington Palace said she would follow the usual citizenship process. Those plans did not go ahead after the couple stepped back from royal duties and moved to California in 2020.
The source said Meghan had once expected Britain to be her permanent home. If the family decides to stay in the UK for the long term, the source suggested, she may consider citizenship again.
The source also said such a decision could be meaningful because Meghan’s relationship with Britain was difficult before she left. Moving back to the UK, however, does not mean that she and Harry have returned to official royal duties.
