Princess Diana’s brother, Earl Spencer, has spoken out about harsh tabloid coverage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Speaking to the BBC about his book, Swan Song, Spencer compared the coverage of the couple to the treatment his sister faced.
“If you look at an article in a tabloid about Diana or the couple that you were mentioning, Harry and Meghan, you know, they can be really, really unpleasant,” he said.
Spencer urged people to learn from Diana’s experience. He explained that he was not speaking on Harry and Meghan’s behalf, but said daily media attacks could deeply affect anyone’s life.
Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and moved to the United States with their son, Archie.
The couple later spoke publicly about their difficulties within the royal family. They also said there had been concerns and conversations about how dark Archie’s skin might be.
They now live in California with Archie and their daughter, Lilibet.
