King Charles’ letter may harm peace talks with Prince Harry, expert claims

A royal expert believes a letter issued on behalf of King Charles may have harmonized efforts to repair relations with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The letter was released after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to Britain. It restated that the couple are no longer working members of the Royal Family and will continue to live as private citizens.

Speaking to Fox News Digital, royal expert Ian Pelham Turner described the decision to make the letter public as unnecessary and damaging.

“My personal opinion on the decision by King Charles to make public a letter conceived by the Lord Chamberlain to reiterate that Harry and Meghan were not working royals was an act of malicious intent initiated by those intending to disrupt their return,” he said.

Turner argued that the message was not justified. However, he advised Harry and Meghan not to respond angrily.

“I hope Harry and Meghan will not rise to the bait and retaliate but calmly move on,” he said.

Royal expert Helena Chard offered a different opinion. She said the King’s message was clear and left no room for further discussion.

“King Charles’ narrative is decisive as he draws a line in the sand,” Chard said. “Nothing new here, no more discussion required.”

She suggested that Harry and Meghan may have expected the Royal Family to take a more flexible approach.

“Prince Harry may be the King’s son, but he lacks the power to amend and dictate the monarch’s statement,” she added.

A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan said the couple were surprised by the letter clarifying their position outside the working Royal Family.
